FAMILY ADVENTURE! - Family Retreat- Camp Bonclarken, Flat Rock NC

Our bags are packed for our trip to Flat Rock, NC to a camp sponsored by Joni and Friends Disability ministry.  Of course Mary has more luggage than the entire family.  We have heard that Joni and Friends camps are an experience we will not forget.  Off we go..
First stop (to break up the trip) Kingsport, TN.  The same hotel we stopped at last Thanksgiving.  The Meadowview Conference Center.
We headed out early to the Bays Mountain Park and Planetarium about 5 minutes up the mountain.  We walked around a great museum with exhibits of live animals.
See!  We were walking around with the deer!

A cool damn and pond.
This picture was actually taken the day after we arrived at Camp Bonclarken.  When we arrived there were hundreds of people waiting for us and cheering us on.  A little overwhelming for us first timers.  This is the lodge we stayed in, one of many buildings on campus.
This is happy Ava waiting with our new friend, Sarah (Amelia and Ava's buddy for the entire week!).
The first afternoon, right to action!  Ava and Dave attempting the zip line.
Ava made it this far....

Jenna was praying for Daddy up so high.
and there he goes!!!  He went for a second time too!

Jenna horseback riding.  One of many times.
Happy Amelia with her turn on the horses.
This is happy Ava hugging her horse before she realized that getting that close may make you itchy and allergic.  Tears shortly followed this happy photo.
Here's happy Drew in the pool with an awesome floatie that we have to find immediately for home!
No more tears, just refreshment in the cold pool.  It was hot this day only!  Here's the girls.

This is Meredith.  Jenna's buddy.  She traveled all the way from Richmond to hang out (I mean follow) a very active Jenna.
Here's Linda with Andrew.  They hit it off right away.  They are square dancing at the hoe down on night number 2.  A live band and everything!
Amelia and Dave enjoying popcorn and snow cones at the hoe down.
Face painting at the hoe down!  What else??!!!
Oh, here's our cat.  Jenna plays like a cat everynight at bedtime.  Now she looks like one!
Moon Bounce and slide at the hoe down!!  (Told you there was more!)
The girls again...
Here's Andrew during his morning program.  The kids would go off separately to their programs while Dave and I were in ours.  Linda would text us these photos to show how Andrew was doing.  A smile?  I like it!!  Here Andrew is being "interviewed' by the director.

Dave and I had date night on the third night.  We walked around the original house which was at least 120 years old.  Really cool.
Here's my handsome husband.
While we were at date night, our girls were having fun.  Never ending fun....
Andrew and Linda

Didn't I say Jenna kept Meredith busy?
My rock climbers.  Getting ready to climb.
And there they go!  They both made it to the top!  We all cheered them on.
The final night was a cool talent show.  This is the girls group with their part.

Andrew's group sang, "This Little Light of Mine" for the talent show.

Well, everybody was right, we all had an incredible week.  Lots of tears (mostly by me) when we had to leave.
