"THE BOMB"

edit.jpg)

Our tv weather forecaster said this last week, and now again this week, "the conditions brewing in the atmosphere are what we call a meteorological bomb." That sounds frightening right there..... Round 2 of the blizzard started yesterday about noon and is still going strong today at 2:30 pm. Conditions are similar to our last storm, except this time - there's the wind. It blows so hard at times we can't see the house across the street. When we woke up there was about 6 inches of new snow, now at 2pm there is about 14 inches. I've got one picture above of conditions outside our front door as of this morning. I had to get back to taking my favorite kind of photos - my kids! Drew has been working on his sitting independently, and lately is doing great! Yeah for Drew! Amelia has been crafting and above is showing off one of her Valentine's Day cards, Ava outside, and Jenna has been waving hello to us lately - (but backwards). It makes us laugh every time!
We've been keeping busy this week (mostly in our pajamas) - playing in the snow, watching movies, painting nails, baking, playing, school work and so on. School has already been called off for the rest of the week. The kids are out of snow days and will now be making up these days over spring break. Wonder how much more snow will fall today?! Checked my blog last year at this time - we had a 71 degree day. That sure sounds nice.

SNOWPOCALYPSE (aka Blizzard 2010)

The weathermen had been calling all week for this "major snowstorm" to hit us this weekend. They were right! Of course, in anticipation of the big storm, I went grocery shopping Thursday morning for the basics (milk, chocolate, ingredients for chicken 'n dumplings), then Dave went mid-day on Friday for beer, more milk, and then again a few hours later for even more essentials...ingredients for snacks for Super Bowl Sunday. Okay, we had the grocery thing covered for sure.... Ava and I picked up books and movies at the library and we put gas in the car. It was all covered. We were ready for the snow to begin!
The kids had a 3 1/2 early dismissal on Friday. Amelia was the only one who went to school. She sure enjoys those short school days! I couldn't pick up three kids all between 11:30-12:00, so being Amelia's school is right around the corner, she was the one who had to go. By 11:30am the snow was falling and didn't stop until about 3:00pm today - over 24 hours of constant snow fall. The heaviest snow fell over night. By morning, our unofficial measurement was 18 inches on our back porch, by noon - 24 inches, by 3:00pm - 26 inches. Officially, the 4th largest snowstorm in the D.C. area.
Dave did most of the driveway shoveling. The car still needs to be uncovered and the county snow plow needs to plow the street. Amelia and Ava could only handle playing outside for a short time today, but they will be super excited tomorrow when they head out and see the caves their neighbor friend has already built.
The first photo above is the scene out our front door. The snow almost comes up to our front door (about 5 or 6 steps), then the scene from our half shoveled driveway, then there's Dave working hard, finally that's Ava, our snow measurement girl.
We had a great day snowed in here with all our cozy comforts. My mom and brother have been without power for almost 24 hours now - no heat, no warm water and stranded. Hoping their day will be better tomorrow.

10 months

dragon.jpg)
Jenna is ten months old! She's fighting a small head cold today - it came on last night at bedtime. She's still happy, just kind of messy.
I say it every month...Jenna is always on the go. She can't sit still - not for anything. She has started to climb now and wants to stand on the open dishwasher, or climb and stand on her riding toys. Her walking is about the same as it was at nine months - maybe a step or two more away from the furniture, but her balance still isn't there. Her sleeping and eating are the same. She has two bottom front teeth poking through.
I followed Jenna around today to take her photo for this update... The photo above made me laugh...... Jenna finds Amelia's favorite purple dragon no matter where it is. It makes Dave and I laugh because it will be hidden in a pile of toys, where to us the toy appeal would all be the same, but no......there's something about Amelia's purple dragon.
Ooooohh, if only Amelia knew what was happening here during the day while she's away at school. Amelia does not like Jenna to "Spit all over her dragon!!!!" You would think she would hide that dragon just a bit better.
