Florida trip - Day 3

We started the day leaving our hotel in Lutz we drove west to Taroon Springs and found this park. 

It was super windy. We explored a bit.

Rocks, climbing and exploring. 

We finally made it to Sanibel. Here’s Jenna familiarizing herself with the place. She had thought this was Tennessee at first glance. Here Uncle Jon and Jenna are talking each other’s ears off.

We took a quick walk to the Lighthouse beach.

Florida trip - Day 2

We are rest stop experts. Get in. Get out... somewhere in Central Florida.

Almost to 3 Sisters Springs... had to stop at this shell shop.

Homossossa Springs and pretty water and rain and only 15 minutes to find manatees.  Seems the manatees in 3 Sisters Springs left for the spring. We were told we may find a few here.

Go us. Now to find the exit before we have to spend the night here. It’s raining pretty good here too.  Off to Lutz, FL for the night. 

Family Adventure - Sanibel - Day 1

We left for our Florida trip early this morning. 

We had one small piece of business to take care of before we could leave town. Can you see her?  Rose is spending the week with Grandpa and Grandma.  It’s her first stay away from home, and it’s Jenna’s first time away from her pup. 

Drew loves road trips.  Here we are somewhere on I95 in Southern Virginia!

When Jenna got to the hotel in Savannah, she had an activity to set up to keep her busy. Tomorrow... the west coast of Florida and hopefully manatees. 

BASEMENT Jenna

This is our basement.  No one but Jenna goes in the basement (not even Dave and it's his man cave).  On any one day you can find her doing one or more of many things.  Tonight she is knitting a scarf and watching tv.  On the floor there - that's not trash - those are rainbow words.  Slips of paper (flash cards) with all sorts of words she thought up.  Next to the rainbow flash cards is her ring of fire she is making for her circus skit.  The chalkboard is where Jenna practices her math - multiplication skip counting.  The balance beam (she made) and the stool are for gymnastics practice.  Beyond the balance beam are legos.  She is making a vacation town.  On the shelves to the right hold a lot of Jenna's art supplies and sewing supplies, oh and her make up.  Jenna is ALWAYS in to something.

Ava -isms....

I've probably documented some of these already, but Amelia and I felt it necessary to document them again.....Here's a now running list of Ava-isms  (her random questions/statements).

1)  Ava thought The Painted Desert in Arizona was supposed to be inside.
2) While standing in front of the Grand Canyon, Ava asked if we were there yet.
3)  Ava asked how long her foot long Italian Sub from Subway was.  Then when we told her a foot, she said so half is 5"?
4) What's the phase of the moon tonight?
5) Jenna's science project had a bag of a freeze dried ice cream sandwich as part of it.  Ava was very concerned that it would melt.
6) If you tell Ava it's a quarter of twelve she has no idea what you are talking about.

SPRING SNOW!

Drew did not go out in our Spring Snow storm today.  He stayed inside with me making cookies and cocoa.  That was better.

The girls went out in the back yard for a bit of snow fun.

Dave stayed inside.

Rose on the inside of the fence following the girls. We got about 9 inches of snow today and about 3 yesterday.  Jenna and Drew stayed home yesterday.  I couldn't get Drew out of the house.  Everyone was home today and school is CLOSED tomorrow!!  Woot woot!

Mom is 77

Mom's 77th birthday today.  This picture was taken last week in the hospital. Happy Birthday to my mom.

Jenna was making something last night.  She came downstairs this morning.  She made a video game with moveable parts.

Sleeping Rose
